Please respond to my little survey question below
Okay, I'm taking a little "survey" where the results will be used in a future blog. I just want to see what everyone thinks on this matter. We all know what a blog is, whether we use it or not. So my question for you is this....Would you consider a weekly article on various topics that is published on a website (and only ever appears on the website) a form of blogging? The article is written by the same person each week and posted publicly for all to view. Even though you cannot get to past articles, would you consider this a form of blogging? A simple 'yes' or 'no' will work, but an explanation of why you think it is or isn't a form of blogging would be much appreciated. Please just let me know what you think! Then stay tuned for a future blog that shows the results of this "survey". Thank you!!

The real survey question is: Will you take comments from anonymous guests now? Or only if the give the answer you are looking for?

"Blog is short for weblog. A weblog is a journal (or newsletter) that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs generally represent the personality of the author or the Web site."
So to answer your question, yes it is a blog.

The real survey question is: Is it really a blog if you buy someone else's thoughts and regurgitate it on a Web site?

Jacki,
Yes, it's a blog - or a newsletter - or whatever you want to call it. Why does it have to have a name???

Wow...This seems to be a controversal subject. I am interested to see where you are going with this. I think I have an idea. I want to warn you - it might get ugly.

Encyclopaedia Britannica had this to say about blog. (Sorry, still gotta copy & paste)
http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9404269/blog
In full Web log or Weblog online journal where an individual, group, or corporation presents a record of activities, thoughts, or beliefs. Some blogs operate mainly as news filters, collecting various online sources and adding short comments and Internet links. Other blogs concentrate on presenting original material. In addition, many blogs provide a forum to allow visitors to leave comments and interact with the publisher. “To blog” is the act of composing material for a blog. Materials are largely written, but pictures, audio, and videos are important elements of many blogs. The “blogosphere” is the online universe of blogs.

That sounds like an online article. If having an article on the internet is considered a blog than I guess that would constitute a blog. Would you consider an article on sportsillustrated.com a blog? I think in most peoples minds, a blog is a persons personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Articles are usually meant to be informative on a subject while blogs tend to be the bloggers personal emotions and opinions. If all of these are to be lumped into the same category I think there definetly are different conotations and purposes blogs can have. They can be informative, educational, a persons thoughts, life happenings, or their rants, but I would not say that an online article on a particular topic or subject and a persons personal thoughts and opinions are the same even if you want to call them the same name.
